Abstract: This paper explores the ancient cultural settings of Kashi from an ecological perspective. It offers a detailed analysis of how the ecological atmosphere has shaped and influenced the religious and cultural aspects of this sacred city. The study places special emphasis on understanding the intricate relationship between the ecological structure and the rich cultural and commercial identity of Banaras. It is divided into two sections: the first section encompasses a comprehensive examination of the geographical aspects of Banaras, while the second section investigates deeply into the ecological background, thoroughly investigating its impact on the economic, cultural, and religious dimensions of the city. This study hypothesized that Banaras has historical and cultural significance spanning millennia, with its ecology linked to Indian civilization and Hindu heritage, imparting a sacred aura to the city. This study is rooted in applying historical research methods and a cultural-ecological approach to a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
