Abstract: India's tribal communities represent a vital part of its cultural and social fabric. Among them, the Bhariya tribe of Madhya Pradesh, primarily residing in the remote Patalkot Valley of Chhindwara district, stands out due to its unique heritage and socio-economic background. This study explores the economic and social transformation within the Bhariya tribe, focusing on livelihood patterns, income levels, and evolving social structures. Our research highlights limited access to resources, traditional practices under pressure, and gradual adaptation to modern influences. Through a detailed study of 12 villages in Patalkot, our paper sheds light on the challenges and transitions faced by the community in a rapidly changing world.
