Perspectives on social security in arthśastra

Abstract: The ancient Indian idea of a welfare state offers a relevant alternative to today's systems. It is important to understand the reasoning behind a duty-oriented welfare state, which emphasizes the need for duties and responsibilities based on ethical behavior for a civilized society. While claiming rights to goods and services may seem easy, the real challenge is accepting personal responsibilities. Each individual must work towards building a culture of accountability. A society focused on duty can encourage a state that prioritizes service. The state should create conditions for peace and happiness, starting with individual actions. Historically, our Indic civilization has inspired others, and we can reclaim our ancient values and welfare model.
