A historical study of the Kariamanikkam Perumal temple in kadayayanallur under the Pandyan dynasty as gleaned from inscription

Abstract:
This article looks at the Kariamanikkam Perumal Temple in Kadayayanallur under the Pandyan Dynasty as Gleaned from inscription, specifically at the Kariamanikkam Perumal Temple in Kadayanallur. It discusses how innovative paths were created to cross forest areas without harming the ecosystem, allowing access to other places KalankatturPeruvazhi and KalankaanathuPeruvazhi which are the forest roots mentioned in the inscription. Additionally, the article examines irrigation canals mentioned in inscriptions, highlighting their role in boosting agriculture and supporting the local environment. The research aims to show how cultural heritage and environmental preservation can coexist within Pandian Administration practices. As evidenced by inscriptions that demonstrate their significance in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustaining the local environment. This research aims to shed light on the harmonious relationship between cultural heritage and environmental preservation within the framework of Pandian Administration practices. Through detailed analysis of inscriptions and local traditions, the article underscores the temple's role not only in religious practices but also in the socio-economic framework of the local community, revealing a deep intertwining of faith, history, and culture in the heritage of Kadayanallur.
