Abstract: The period between the 7th and 12th centuries CE marks a significant epoch in the cultural and architectural history of Kashmir. This era witnessed the synthesis of indigenous traditions with external influences, resulting in a unique and vibrant cultural identity. This paper explores the art and architecture of early medieval Kashmir, focusing on its stylistic evolution, religious symbolism, and socio-political context. The study emphasizes the region’s role as a cultural confluence where Shaivism, Buddhism, and emerging Islamic influences intertwined to shape its artistic and architectural heritage.
