Abstract: This study explores the portrayal of women in ancient Kamarupa as reflected in various literary sources, including inscriptions, epics, and regional texts. By analyzing these materials, the research aims to uncover the multifaceted roles of women in the social, religious, and political spheres of early Kamarupa. The study highlights women’s participation in governance, spiritual practices, education, and cultural development, offering a nuanced understanding of their status and influence. Through a critical examination of historical narratives, the research seeks to reconstruct the position and contributions of women in shaping the civilization of ancient Kamarupa.
