Abstract:
The central and provincial legislatures' composition and operations were altered by the Montagu-Chelmsford Reforms. Punjab's history saw a significant democratic upheaval and an immense change. The 1946 elections for the Punjab Legislative Assembly Elections in 1946 were different from those in 1937 in that they were contested more based on parties and particular topics. The first time the Muslim League had the chance to test its power in the Punjab was during the 1946 elections. The Muslim League has failed to establish a government in the province of Punjab. On the political stage, the All India Muslim League became a powerful force. The establishment of Pakistan was the Muslim League's primary goal. The 1946 elections were seen by the Muslim populations as the difference between life and death. Achieving India's independence was the goal of the Indian National Congress (INC). Without a genuine political objective, the Unionist party just drifted into increasing irrelevance.
